Switzerland legalized online games

Until recently, online gambling in Switzerland was illegal, while the relevant law prohibiting the provision of similar services wasn’t in the country. Unternational industry operators could freely provide services to local players.

Now the Swiss parliament has finally voted for changes in the gambling legislation of the country, regulating the activities of industry-based land and online operators. Ground-based gambling operators will be able to work in the Internet space, offering relevant services through their online channels.

The new law provides for taxation on lottery wins and sports rates of more than $1 million (1 million Swiss francs). Winnings in land-based casinos are not taxed.
