This season’s favorite teams to win the 2019/20 Champions League

Too many of Europe’s elite clubs crumbled in the 2018/19 Champions League, in which Liverpool ended as champions. But the new season is here and the big names are ready to bounce back and fight for the trophy. They fell to Ajax last time but they had won four of the previous five on offer. Now they’ve reinforced by bringing in Eden Hazard, Luka Jovic, Ferland Mendy and Eder Militao, with Paul Pogba still being pursued. Madrid will be desperate to assert their dominance over European football again.

Barcelona

Barcelona has confirmed their squad for their 2019-20 Champions League campaign that will see them take on Borussia Dortmund, Inter and Slavia Prague in the group stages. The Spanish champions have obviously included the entire first-team squad as well as Barcelona B players Hiroki Abe, Ronaldo Araujo and Ferran Sarsanedas in their A-List.

Atletico Madrid

They missed the chance to win the Champions League at home last year and they’ve had a summer of transition. It’s early still, but the new signings look to have settled already and Diego Simeone will be keen to go far in Europe.

Manchester City

On 4 September, Manchester City revealed their 22-man A List squad for the 2019/20 EUFA Champions League Group Stage. Over the course of the next four months, City will place six matches in Group C, where they will face Shakhtar Donetsk, Dinamo Zagreb, and Atalanta.

Liverpool

Liverpool – who were placed in pot three in 2018-19 – already achieved automatic qualification for Europe’s premier club competition with their second-place finish in the Premier League this term.

Tottenham

They surprised many by reaching last year’s final where they were unlucky to lose. A handful has come in, but there’s still uncertainty surrounding Christian Eriksen. Challenging on multiple fronts won’t be easy.

Juventus

Cristiano Ronaldo alone is enough to suggest they’re contenders. Add the signings of Matthijs de Ligt, Aaron Ramsey and Adrien Rabiot and you have a very strong team again this season.
