UKGC Appoints Sue Young as Executive Director

The UK Gambling Commission (UKGC) has appointed Sue Young as its new Executive Director of Operations, bringing extensive government experience to the role amid ongoing leadership changes and a government-backed campaign against the black market.

Sue Young joins the Commission from HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC), where she served as Director of Debt Management. Her career in UK government has included senior positions at the Home Office, working with Border Force and HM Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire & Rescue Services, as well as the Department for Work and Pensions.

The appointment comes at a critical time for the UKGC as it continues its enforcement efforts against unregulated gambling operations and black market operators. The Commission is focus on protecting consumers and maintaining industry integrity remains paramount under the new leadership structure.

Young background in civil service and regulatory enforcement is expected to strengthen the Commission is operational capabilities as it addresses emerging challenges in the gambling sector, including the proliferation of illegal betting operations and concerns over problem gambling.
