Danske Spil, Denmark is state-owned gaming operator, has achieved its strongest financial performance in company history, reporting a record net profit of DKK2.008 billion for 2025, up from DKK1.948 billion in 2024.
Despite total gross gaming revenue slightly declining to DKK5.158 billion, the company maintained strong profitability through cost efficiencies and portfolio adjustments. The results highlight the resilience of the lottery sector and Denmark is growing online gaming market.
While lottery operations remain the primary earnings contributor, Danske Spil is licensed gaming activities sports betting and online casino generated DKK1.584 billion in revenue and DKK171 million in profit. Online casino products showed continued growth, though sports betting activity softened following high engagement levels from major sporting events in the previous year.
The company expects a rebound in 2026 with major sporting events including the World Cup. Danish operators are closely monitoring the national team is qualification campaign through UEFA playoffs.
A notable trend shows approximately 70% of Danske Spil is sales now occur online compared with 30% through physical retailers. CEO Nikolaj Lyhne-Knudsen stated the result demonstrates a robust business where we manage to balance development, responsibility and long-term value creation.
As an 81% state-owned enterprise, Danske Spil contributed DKK3.148 billion to Danish society in 2025 through taxes, dividends, and lottery funding, including DKK1.787 billion to sports, culture, and community organizations.
