2026 FIFA World Cup: Sportingtech Launches Innovative Widgets

Sportingtech has introduced three new widgets ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup to enhance the betting experience for operators and players alike. The Events Widget, Groups Widget, and Long-TTerm Bets Widget are tailored to meet the demands of football fans during the tournament.

The Events Widget offers a consolidated view of match markets, simplifying the journey from discovery to bet placement. The Groups Widget provides comprehensive details on group fixtures and teams, while the Long-Term Bets Widget gives players direct access to outrights and tournament specials.

Sportingtech’s focus is on reducing friction in the betting process by prioritizing key markets. Research indicates that 80% of player attention is concentrated above the fold, and strategic widget placement can increase engagement by 500%. Given that the 2022 FIFA World Cup generated approximately $35 billion in wagers and the 2026 edition features 104 matches, the potential for higher bet volumes is significant.

All widgets are designed with a mobile-first approach, ensuring a flexible and customizable user experience that adapts to each operator’s requirements. Tommy Molloy, Chief Product Officer at Sportingtech, said: “The World Cup is the single biggest commercial opportunity in the sports betting calendar. Our operators deserve a product that rises to the occasion.”

“Because we work closely with our partners, we understand exactly what they need. These widgets were built from those conversations, reducing friction, surfacing the right markets, and delivering an experience designed for the tournament,” Molloy added.

He also stressed the importance of retention during the World Cup: “The influx of casual bettors during the World Cup is a genuine retention opportunity. The operators who capitalize on it won’t be the ones who shouted the loudest. They’ll be the ones whose experience keeps players coming back.”
