The leading British bookmaker William Hill revealed that its US division is to enter a partnership with a Native American Tribe to roll out a sportsbook service in the summer.
The Mescalero Apache Tribe, the operator of the state’s Inn of the Mountain Gods Resort & Casino, has selected William Hill to power the launch of a new sportsbook within the venue which is located three hours southeast of Albuquerque. The partnership marks the first sportsbook powered by William Hill in the state of New Mexico as well as the first agreement between the US arm of the British gambling operator and a Native American tribe outside of Nevada.
“Inn of the Mountain Gods is one of the premier resorts and casinos in the southwest and together we plan to bring a first-class experience to sports fans in the region,” said William Hill US President of Retail David Grolman.
New Mexico will become the eighth state where William Hill US operates legal sports betting. The company has 113 race and sportsbook locations in Nevada and three locations in New Jersey. William Hill is a licensed sports betting provider in Mississippi, West Virginia and Pennsylvania and serves as the exclusive risk manager for the sports lottery in Delaware and Rhode Island.
Inn of the Mountain Gods becomes the fourth tribal casino to offer sports betting in New Mexico. Santa Ana Star, on Santa Ana Pueblo, was the first to have its sports book open, in October. The sports book at Pueblo of Pojoaque’s Buffalo Thunder opened in March. Isleta’s sports book is set to open on August 12.
