Basketball Australia, the governing body for basketball in the country, has confirmed a new deal with Genius Sports.
The global company will serve as the association’s official data and integrity partner. The agreement covers the Women’s National Basketball League, the South East Australian Basketball League and the top-level league in each state in Australia.
Basketball Australia said it will be granted an “unprecedented level of visibility and control over the supply and use of its official data”. It said the use of an official feed will also deter ‘courtsiders’ from collecting unofficial data within the stadium which can then be distributed without the sport having any visibility or control over the subsequent use.
