Greek OPAP is rapidly losing profits

The only Greek gaming operator OPAP provided a quarterly report, according to which the profit fell in the second quarter of this year – to $ 26 million (33%). On an annualized basis revenue fell 2.5% to $ 394 million.

The total revenue from the rates fell 1.2% to $ 111 million. The main direction of OPAP – lottery business – showed a drop of more than 8% year-on-year to $ 229 million. Lottery video terminals generated $ 8.9 million.

Damian Cope, CEO of OPAP, explained the decline in profits by the fact that the Greek Ministry of Finance lobbied for a new bill, according to which OPAP reduced the number of lottery video terminals (VLT) to 25 thousand units.
