STS Gaming Group has become the first Polish bookmaking business to secure a licence in the regulated UK gambling market.
The company is also the first Polish bookmaker to start foreign operations, and further international expansion is part of a long-term foreign strategy. STS already holds licences in Germany, Iceland, Luxembourg, Slovenia, Andorra, San Marino, Gibraltar, Slovakia, Malta and Latvia, as well as Poland.
“We are not only the largest Polish bookmaking company but the first domestic company in this industry that operates outside the domestic market. Obtaining a licence in the United Kingdom is the result of a consistently implemented international expansion strategy. We are always looking at other prospective foreign markets,” said STS chief executive Mateusz Juroszek.
Earlier this year, STS secured a deal with software developer BetConstruct, which has agreed to supply both sports betting and gaming content.
The company controls almost half of the domestic sector, with 80 per cent of turnover generated online, through applications dedicated to Android and iOS, a website and mobile version. STS expanded its business to European markets in February 2019.
