The German Football Association (DFB), has announced an integrity partnership with Genius Sports, the UK-based sports data technology company, to safeguard against match-fixing and betting-related corruption.
Beginning with the upcoming 2019-20 season, Genius Sports’ Bet Monitoring System will analyse the movements of odds using predictive algorithms to highlight any suspicious betting activity in 7,500 matches across all Bundesliga, 2. Bundesliga, German internationals, women’s and youth team fixtures.
The technology will automatically flag potentially suspicious betting activity in real-time, with the DFB to receive detailed reports on individual games and analysis of global betting markets.
“We look forward to working with Genius Sports as our new integrity service provider and hope to gain new impetus in the field of preventing betting-related corruption,” said Hendrik Große Lefert, DFB Integrity Officer.
Genius Sports has signed several similar agreements with other sporting bodies in recent months, including an extended deal with the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) and new partnerships with both the Bulgarian Football Union and the Ladies Professional Golf Association.
The 2019-20 German Bundesliga season will begin on 16 August when champions Bayern Munich begin the defence of their title against Hertha Berlin.
